Vital Insights for Vital Action

A comprehensive resource package for setting up continuous data collection systems to enable timely action

Vital Insights for Vital Action

The availability of continuous information on mortality is necessary for effective decision-making in health program planning and resource allocation. Vital Insights for Vital Action (VIVA) aims to improve the health of people in low- and middle-income countries through the development of an efficient monitoring system. Countries own this system and use it to improve policies and programs and monitor progress toward goals.

Mortality data is critical for understanding the burden of disease, planning, and monitoring of interventions.

The Process:
A step-by-step program

The VIVA program is simplified into 12 actionable steps and four easy-to-implement phases, each with related tools that can be adapted for specific settings. The effectiveness of the VIVA process is based largely on its ease of implementation, and its uniquely designed set of tools that allow regular, well-tested, and highly-actionable data.
